These decadent dumplings are the perfect accomaniment with oxtail
You will need:
2 Cups self-raising four
1 ½teaspoons salt
2 eggs
1 cup butter milk
¾ cup grated cheddar
Method:
Mix together the buttermilk, eggs and cheddar, then stir in the flour and salt.
Lift the lid on your oxtail braise (recipe below) about 20 minutes before you are taking it out of the oven.
Drop a tablespoon of batter around the stew, cover with the lid and put back into the oven to finish cooking the last 20 minutes.
Super Easy Oxtail
You will need:
About 1.5kgto 2kg’s of oxtail
1 x 750mltub of Dr Broth Beef Bone Broth
½ cup white kidney beans or any bean you like, just remember to soak in water overnight
1 sachet powdered oxtail soup
1 tbls tomato paste
Salt and pepper
Turn your oven to about 150°c
Method:
In asaucepan on the stove, gently warm the Dr Broth Beef Bone Broth and carefully stir in the powdered oxtail soup and the tomato paste, stir to combine it as best you can.
In a casserole dish that fits into your oven, arrange the oxtail, season it with salt and pepper, and pour over your soaked (and drained) kidney beans Try and push them into the gaps.
Pour your broth over the oxtail using a sieve to get rid of any lumps from the soup.
Now cover the surface of your meat and bone broth with some baking paper. This will help your oxtail steam.
Put the lid on, put it into the oven and forget about it for about 4 hours
After the time is up, take it out the oven and let it sit for about half an hour.
